What’s the difference between Yoga and Pilates? This is something that I hear a lot of the time. From the outside they look quite similar – they are both mat based exercises that have attention focused on the breath.
For me, my Pilates classes are more alignment and control focused and building specific strength than my Yoga classes. Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates in the 1920’s and he went on to train ballet dancers, the exercises used in modern Pilates are based on the template he used for them. Working on the control and strength of your core areas – stomach, shoulders and pelvis as well as maintaining mobility.
